Youth Volleyball

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Welcome to Towson Rec Volleyball – a fun and inclusive instructional program for students in 3rd through 11th grade! Whether your child is brand new to the sport or looking to improve their skills, this program provides a positive and energetic environment for all experience levels to learn, grow, and enjoy the game of volleyball.

Participants will be introduced to and practice the core skills of volleyball, including passing, setting, serving, and hitting. In addition to skill development, players will engage in drills and games designed to reinforce techniques, build teamwork, and teach the fundamentals of rotation, rules, and on-court communication.

Our experienced coaches focus on sportsmanship, confidence building, and having fun.

We run clinics through the Fall, Spring, and Summer.

Location: Towson High (69 Cedar Ave, Towson, MD 21286; easiest access to the gym is from Aigburth Rd)

What to Bring: Players should wear athletic clothing, sneakers with good traction, and be ready to run, jump, and play!

SPRING SEASON

This spring, we will offer a skills clinic for 3rd-9th graders who are beginners to volleyball and an advanced league for 7th-11th graders who have experience and want to play games.

SUMMER SEASON

This summer we will offer a camp before fall try-outs for 8th - 12th graders (SY2026-2027). This is not a camp for beginners - this is advanced play for players who have been on teams before.

COACHES

Madi Amico is currently the assistant varsity coach at Towson High. She played collegiate volleyball at St. Lawrence University and has spent the last three seasons coaching club volleyball at Masters Volleyball Academy. She is Gold Medal Squared certified and trained.

Elena Aungst is a four-year varsity volleyball player from Towson High School and currently plays collegiate volleyball at Notre Dame of Maryland University. She also brings four years of coaching experience with Towson Rec volleyball camps and clinics.

Andy Marcantoni is the head JV coach at Towson High School. Prior to Towson High, he has also coached for Masters Volleyball Academy and Open Bible Christian School for 6 years. He is trained in Gold Medal Squared volleyball and is Impact certified.

Sarah Nugent is a Baltimore native, BCPS graduate, and was a Head Varsity Volleyball Coach for 14 seasons in BCPS.  She was the head coach at Eastern Tech High School for 8 years followed by 6 years at Towson High. After graduating from Dulaney HS, she continued her volleyball career at Frostburg State University.

Shannon Monaghan is the JV assistant coach at Towson High School. She began playing volleyball as a freshman at Catholic High. She played Varsity for 3 years as an outside hitter. After graduating high school, she continued to play volleyball locally with friends and family.

Emily Berman is the head varsity volleyball coach at Towson High after taking an eight year hiatus. She was previously the coach from 2009 through 2018, where her teams had success at all levels, which included being Baltimore County Champions, 3A North Regional Champions, MD state finalists, and MD state champions. She is a graduate of Towson High School and continued her playing career at UMBC. She has run the TRC volleyball program since 2013.
